OVERALL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
The candidate will perform routine and basic toxicological assays and techniques on biological specimens for the purpose of drug and drug metabolite identification. The candidate will serve as the technical lead in a clinical toxicology laboratory. Candidates must have experience in liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS), data analysis, solid phase or liquid/ liquid phase extraction, “dilute and shoot” applications and be able to perform sample accessioning in accordance with existing standard operating procedures (SOP). The individual selected will be responsible for daily laboratory operations, sample throughput and reporting.
Primary operator of a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometer.
Assist the laboratory Manager in overall quality control and quality assurance practices.
Assures all records of analyses performed are accurate and properly archived.
Assist with laboratory SOP updates and modifications.
Maintain logs of analyses performed, equipment problems and solutions, freezer and refrigerator temperature logs and equipment operation logs.
Maintain the laboratory in an inspection readiness status at all times.
Handle hazardous materials and hazardous waste, ensuring proper safety precautions are taken in storing and disposition of these materials.
Perform all levels of data review (certifying and administrative review) of completed patient and proficiency results.
MAJOR QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION, BACKGROUND, PRIOR EXPERIENCE, ETC.):
BS or MS in Science-related field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, etc.)
Documentation of training in LC/MS/MS.
Documentation of training and experience in the field of forensic or clinical toxicology.
