Description:

This SOFT Continuing Education Regional Workshop will provide Forensic Toxicologists with a practical understanding of the guidelines currently available for the development and validation of methods used by Forensic Toxicology Laboratories.  The focus of the workshop will be presentations and discussions, including specific examples, of how various laboratories are applying these guidelines to the validation of new methods or revalidation of old methods. After attending this course, participants will be able to: understand and apply the minimum standards for method validation that have been accepted by the Forensic Toxicology Community; understand and perform the statistical analysis required to appropriately evaluate validation data; and develop strategies to meet the standards for method validation and ensure quality results while keeping expenditure of laboratory resources to a minimum.
