This position is responsible for the performance of a variety of Pharmacogenetic  and biochemical molecular diagnostic tests in an accurate and timely manner.  B.S or M.S. in clinical laboratory science, molecular diagnostics, clinical chemistry, biochemistry or related field required.

Relevant experience in a molecular diagnostic laboratory preferred. Priority consideration will be given to candidates who additionally have certification in molecular diagnostics (e.g., MB (ASCP), method development and validation experience, especially as it relates to Quant Studio 12K Flex instrument testing. Job duties include:

   •Performs real time polymerase chain reaction analyses of body fluids, and tissue, using the Quant Studio 12K Flex instrument.  •Maintains equipment and assures integrity of data by calibrating and cleaning equipment, changing parts, and analyzing controls and test mixes.

   •Logs samples; completes forms to report test results; ensures compliance with chain of evidence and specimen storage procedure and order.

   •Consults with Pharmacologist   regarding laboratory analysis, and

interpretation of results.

   •Follows standard operating test procedures as outlined in laboratory Procedure Manuals •Maintains technical competencies for instrument Quant Studio 12K Flex  •Coordinates and prioritizes work in order to complete within expected time frames •Utilizes analysis programs and software to accurately evaluate testing data.

   •Calculates, transcribes and records and reports test results •Ensures regulatory compliance with CLIA and COLA through strict adherence to the laboratory’s quality assurance plan •Evaluates validity of results to ensure accuracy •Assists in design and execution of research studies, method development and equipment validation •Maintains technical records •Processes results and assists with technical writing for publications and presentations •Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of equipment, method comparisons, and establishment of normal ranges •Evaluates specimens for acceptability •Performs quality control testing procedures and evaluates data, taking necessary actions to correct problems •Performs daily and scheduled preventative maintenance procedures on laboratory instruments •Conducts routine calibrations and adjustment of equipment as needed •Participates in proficiency testing and laboratory’s established competency assessment program.
