DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Provide support to all customer inquiries and Technical Specialists requests in a rapid and precise manner addressing the customer’s needs.
•Educate customers and UCT employees as to areas of forensic and toxicology science that are needed for sales calls, applications and the
appropriate use of UCT applications.
•Follow the Project plans of the laboratory concerning the order that projects are to be performed.
•Develop new UCT product applications to work out new uses for our products and potential new applications and products.
•Take an active role in AAFS, SOFT and other professional groups that will lead to better understanding of the applications of SPE in the
Forensic and Toxicological Fields.
•Publish at least twice yearly a scientific paper or poster on a newly developed application for the use of our products
•Keep up on the current trends and new techniques and if possible apply our products to those applications for comparison.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Strong method development/R&D skills for the use of SPE coupled with LC/GC Analysis
•The ability to work in the laboratory extensively utilizing both LC-MS/MS and GC-MS equipment and think independently to solve analytical
•Ability to work with current products and make recommendations on how to improve UCT’s products and their applications.
•Be adaptable to handle multiple projects and tight timeframes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
•A Master’s or PhD Degree in the Forensic Toxicology field with an emphasis on chemical analysis with more than 3 years’ experience in a
forensic laboratory performing forensic drug analysis and method development.
•Candidates must show an interest in performing Toxicological analysis using SPE products and have a familiarity with competitors’ products.
•Experience using SPE with GC,GC-MS,LC and LC-MS-MS and the knowledge to create new methods, validation criteria, specifications and also have
a keen eye towards trends in the industry in regards to new analytical method approaches.
•Have published or presented at least three papers on their scope of their activities in their field of interest in Forensic Toxicology.
•Indoors (95%): Exposed to chemical fumes of synthesis labs and shipping
•Wet Chemistry Lab: Biohazardous Samples
•Outdoors Move Gas Cylinders (5%): Safety of carrying gas tanks into the laboratory
•Lifting: Occasion lifting of packages such as shipping containers up to 25 lbs.
•Safety Equipment: Chemical induced risks
•Accessibility: Controlled drugs in safe; Problematic visitors and traffic
•ALL staff use carbon filter respirators for fumes. MINIMAL RISK
•Separate area for doing this work with a defined SOP and additional protective safety gear.
•Single Gas cylinder cart
•Safety SOP on Gas cylinders
•Carts are provided for the moving of crates and boxes
•Separate Wet Chemistry laboratory for doing samples with two chemical fume hoods and a biohazard cabinet. At all times, wear white lab coats,
safety glasses and handle chemicals with gloves in the wet chemistry lab.
