Laboratory Name: Los Angeles County Department of Coroner
The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner’s Forensic Laboratory is currently seeking to hire a qualified Quality Assurance Coordinator. Our laboratory is accredited by ASCLD/LAB in the disciplines of Toxicology, Trace (GSR), and Tool marks, and anticipates DNA services to come on line sometime in 2013. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will administer all aspects of the laboratory’s quality assurance program.
EXAMPLES of DUTIES:
• Maintains and updates the laboratory’s Quality Manual
• Maintain document control for all laboratory policies and procedures
• Monitors laboratory quality practices to verify continuing compliance
with policies and procedures as well as all accreditation standards
• Monitors laboratory instrument calibration and maintenance records
• Monitors and assesses the adequacy of technical and administrative
review activities for laboratory reports
• Administers annual proficiency testing to all analysts in all
disciplines
• Conducts periodic quality system audits
• Maintains training records and proficiency results of all laboratory
personnel
• Monitors courtroom testimony feedback of all testifying analysts
• Prepares the Laboratory for accreditation reviews, audits and
inspections as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: A minimum of four years experience performing the duties of a journeyman level Forensic Scientist in a forensic laboratory.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of laboratory quality systems, document control, and conducting audits.
Annual Salary Range: $78,913 - $98,034
