Ammon Analytical Laboratory, LLC, has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Technologist in the clinical department.  The laboratory is accredited by CAP and NYS Department of Health to perform forensic and clinical toxicology testing.  Ammon offers a great benefits package and competitive salary.  The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic and results driven.

This position is Full-Time 10:00 am till 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday

Laboratory Technologist

Qualifications:

One (1) year of experience in the laboratory field.

Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in medical technology, chemistry, biology or one of the other natural sciences

Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of equipment and supplies used in laboratory

Knowledge of laboratory methods and techniques

Ability to give information and directions clearly and concisely

Possess problem solving abilities and good analytical judgement

Ability to carry out high complexity tests

Experience in dealing with client questions or directing them to a Supervisor

Working knowledge of laboratory computer system (LIS)

Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard and universal precautions

Ability to demonstrate required dexterity, knowledge and ability to complete assigned laboratory tasks and skills, attention to detail and compliance with all appropriate regulatory and safety requirements

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees

General Function:

Performs routine tests using standard techniques and equipment; perform related duties in laboratory to include labeling and accessioning specimens and using manual and automatic instruments to prepare specimens and perform all phases of toxicology testing.  Understand and comply with laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance policies and procedures for instrumentation and testing.

Characteristics Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare instruments with prepared reagents and standards according to instruments instructions described in the Standard Operating Procedure Manual

(SOPM)

Review tests results completed and provide it to Supervisors for second review. Recognize Quality Control shifts and trends and consult with Supervisor

Run proficiency testing (PT) samples which are tested along with patient specimens

Perform storage of specimens after testing and properly discard according to Standard Operating Procedure Manual (SOPM)

Communicate with support staff, clients and supervisors about procedural matters and problems in a timely manner

Review daily records of accessioning, instrument calibrations, quality control, worksheets and results. Review is documented by initials and date

Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on analyzers and instruments,clean laboratory equipment, glassware, maintain laboratory supply chemicals; report to supervisor the need to order supplies. Perform routine maintenance/troubleshooting on equipment

Enter test results of analysis into the laboratory computer

Perform recheck analyses on selected positive samples (screening in clinical

toxicology) to maintain reliability

Report final results to clients by hard copy and/or electronically (LIS):

File hard copies or electronic data and save for seven (7) years

Perform all routine tasks and non-routine tasks as required by laboratory management

Monitor work of Technicians and Laboratory Assistants and assist in the training of new personnel

Forensic Technologists will report to General Supervisor, Clinical Technologist will report to Clinical Supervisor
