TOXICOLOGIST II

Salary Range $59,654 - $92,586

 

BROWARD COUNTY (Fort Lauderdale), FL

MEDICAL EXAMINER/TRAUMA SERVICES

 

 

Broward County is seeking a talented and motivated candidate to fill a Toxicologist II position performing complex analyses on postmortem and antemortem specimens for Medical Examiner death investigations and Law Enforcement DUI and Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFSA) cases.

REQUIREMENTS:   Completion of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college

or university with major course work in Toxicology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biology, or Physics, or closely related field; and four (4) years experience performing toxicological or other chemical-based tests in a large scale toxicology laboratory; or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:   Must obtain licensure by the State of

Florida to perform blood alcohol tests within one (1) year following appointment.  Must become a member of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists and/or the Toxicology Section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences no later than one year following appointment. Must be board certified by the American Board of Forensic Toxicology or obtain such certification within 2 years of commencement of employment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Toxicologist II position duties include performing complex analyses on postmortem and antemortem specimens for Medical Examiner death investigations and Law Enforcement DUI and Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFSA) cases.  Qualified applicants must have extensive experience with HSGC, GC/MS, HPLC and expert testimony.

BOARD CERTIFICATION:  Candidates possessing current Board Certification are preferred.
